october 2026 spreads for all
hello, friends. we've made it to october, and i'm thinking about the things that can help us feel alive, the things that support our heavy emotions, the things that keep us in touch with our humanity.
in part this is because i'm running my ten-week grief container as well as our fourth six-month grove cohort, and am talking a lot with folks in those spaces about big feelings, creative inspiration, spiritual discovery, and taking care of ourselves in a very chaotic and complicated world. it's easy to drown ourselves in news, or to compartmentalize so hard that we can't feel anything — but things like music, movement, meditation, and yes, even mayhem can all help us stay connected to the things that matter to us, the things that keep us human, the things that keep us alive.
for october, i've written a tarot spread for each of these experiences, and i hope they offer you some support, some freedom, and some inspiration. let's get into it.

rhythm & blues: a tarot spread for letting the music move you. one of my amazing spread architect clients asked for a big music-inspired tarot spread last month, and i liked it so much that i wanted to create a shorter version for y'all. a few of the other spreads here are inspired by specific songs, which is one of my favorite things to do — but even if we don't have the same taste in music, i hope you'll still find some joyful noise in these prompts.
card one / the rhythm: the heartbeat; the steady foundation; the bedrock
card two / the lyrics: the story; the poetry; the voice
card three / the harmonies: the supports; the textures; the connective tissue
card four / the emotion: the blood; the experience; the feelings

breathing & being: a tarot spread for meditation & stillness. i've been exploring more breathwork resources, looking into how paying more attention to our breath can support us through grief, trauma, stress, anxiety, and more. sometimes, we just need to take a moment to be still — this spread can help.
card one / inhale: something to breathe in; something to accept or fully feel
card two / hold: something to sit with; something to be with; something to listen to
card three / exhale: something to release; something to surrender

movement: a hozier-inspired tarot spread for moving & being moved. listen, sometimes stillness is not the way, and we need to move around instead. this song is very sexy but even if that's not the vibe you're feeling, the lyrics can still give us a place to start when it comes to moving, and being moved.
card one / a call to motion: something you long to do; something you can't help but do; a move that would be satisfying to make
card two / something so flawed & free: something not to worry about; something beautiful in its imperfection; a move that doesn't need to be impressive to be good

mayhem & mutiny: a rage against the machine inspired tarot spread for taking the power back. if sexy fluid movement is not your jam at the moment and/or you're more interested in screaming, smashing, and fucking things up, this spread is for you. as tom morello recently said, "this is rebellion as self-care, honestly" — and i agree. it's important to break rules, important to name truth loudly and often, important to take power back in as many ways as we can.
card one / no more lies: something to acknowledge; something to stop fooling yourself about; something to admit and own
card two / we're gonna have to break it: something that really isn't working anymore; something that has to get broken before it can get fixed
sending you movement, stillness, deep breaths, and a little mayhem, friends. more soon.
