november 2026 spreads for all

hello, friends. we've been talking about the suit of cups all year long, and at the top of the month i shared a juicy essay on the relationships that we have with the cards — and the many stages that those relationships might go through. (i also shared a big birthday essay with some discounts that expire on november 11th, so if you didn't get a chance to read that yet, click here to check it out!)

love songs of all kinds are kind of everything, from falling to deepening to doubling down to fracturing to regretting to moving on. so many songs are love songs that it's sometimes harder to find songs that aren't about love. this month's tarot spreads feature some songs that live on heavy rotation for me, songs that explore different aspects and forms and expressions of love.

and remember that if your own relationship with the cards could use some attention, if you're eager to fall deeper in love with your cards or if you could use an opportunity to air some grievances with your cards, my upcoming workshop couples counseling: tarot edition is open for enrollment. sign up now to join us on november 22nd, or join the hermitage to get access to this workshop plus everything else in the series that i'm cooking up for 2027.

you said something: a pj harvey spread for something really important. i held my breath / and i am doing nothing wrong

you said something: a pj harvey spread for something really important. relationships are collections of moments and confessions, vulnerability and intimacy, sharing and receiving. sometimes being present is the best way to deepen a connection.

card one / i held my breath: something this moment is holding for you; a necessary pause or opportunity for stillness
card two / and i am doing nothing wrong: something you can enjoy without fear or recrimination; something you don't need to worry about

bobby: a phoebe bridgers spread for your life turning upside-down. i am right here bleeding / stars on the ceiling / this could be the end of wanting

bobby: a phoebe bridgers spread for your life turning upside-down. who knew that 2026 phoebe would be gifting us an earnest, perfect love song? sometimes somebody follows you home and you realize that you never want them to leave.

card one / i am right here bleeding: something vulnerable and tender; a way that you are opening yourself up to someone or something else
card two / stars on the ceiling: something beautiful and valuable; something small that you love deeply; something to take simple joy in
card three / this could be the end of wanting: something that this connection might satisfy; a desire that is being tended with care

teardrop: a massive attack spread for love as a doing word. teardrop on the fire / fearless on my breath

teardrop: a massive attack spread for love as a doing word. yearning only gets you so far. eventually, if you really want something to happen, you're gonna have to gather your courage and take a risk.

card one / teardrop on the fire: something you're burning for; something you crave with intensity; something you can't stop yourself from wanting
card two / fearless on my breath: something you might have to do in order to get what you want; what your courage might look like

good ol' days: a hayley williams spread for missing someone like rage. desire, tidal wave / the hard times / get it out of my system

good ol' days: a hayley williams spread for missing someone like rage. the ending of a relationship or the shift of a connection can put things into perspective in surprising new ways — sometimes for the better, and sometimes in a way that makes us feel worse for awhile.

card one / desire, tidal wave: something you once wanted so much it knocked you out; a desire that pushed you in a particular direction
card two / the hard times: a challenge that kept resurfacing; something you've had to deal with again and again
card three / get it out of my system: something you can do to release the passion or anger or regret; advice on what to do next

fare well: a hozier spread for when you'll take any high. tryin' to feel good again / i'll be alright

fare well: a hozier spread for when you'll take any high. listen, you're allowed to just be sad sometimes. even when you're moving in the right direction, or even if you find yourself unable to move at all, feel what you need to feel.

card one / tryin' to feel good again: something you're already doing that may or may not be helping; a reflection of where your energy is going
card two / i'll be alright: a reminder of what's to come; a glimpse at the potential in your future
