from grief to hope, and everything in-between

from grief to hope (and back again)

oh friends. i hope you're as safe and comfortable as you can be right now. i hope you're drinking something that is exactly the right temperature, that you can smell something gorgeous and delicious, that you're wearing something soft and clean, that you've gotten to see someone you love recently.

for so many in our world, these simple luxuries are far out of reach. people around the world have been glued to social media for days and weeks and months and years, watching genocides and hurricanes and wildfires, raging and crying and fighting, yet feeling helpless. i have been drowning in grief every day for more than a year, but it's felt even sharper lately, like if i'm not careful it might consume me completely.

if you feel this way too, if you've been stuck in hanged one / death energy with no relief in sight, i see you. i hear you. i'm with you. i am you.

death & hanged one from the marigold tarot

so much of my work lives in the liminal spaces between grief and hope. i find tarot to be an extraordinary tool for exploring this strange, magical in-between place — but in deeply complex or painful moments, it might be hard to know what to do with ourselves. if pulling cards or doing in-depth readings has been feeling completely out of reach; if you've felt lost or alone or unable to focus on literally anything; if you are craving medicine but don't know what shape that medicine should take, i want to help.

let me take your hand, raise my lantern, and walk with you through those dark spaces, those strange thresholds, those hidden doorways that connect deep sorrow and glimmering starlight. let's see what we can find, with the tarot as our compass.

i've been thinking so much about what i could create right now to support you, and me, and us, in this devastating, impossible, exhausting, relentless time. and when i shared some questions about what y'all are craving over on threads, my brilliant friend and wordsmith extraordinaire diana rose harper offered this phrase in response: the holy relationship between hope & grief.

something in my chest eased when i read this phrase — it felt like such a beautiful encapsulation of where i so often live, where my work so often gravitates. i want to help you find the courage to face your grief, to let it transform you, and to begin to recognize what hope looks like within you. it's what drives me, motivates me, inspires me, and fascinates me – and given the responses to my questions on social media and in my discord, y'all want more on grief, and hope, and everything that connects them.

with that in mind, i want to share some new resources that might help you right now. all of them live in this sacred intersection between grief and hope, suffering and relief, loss and love. treat yourself to some gentle support:
