hello, friends. before we dive into this final offering on the eight of wands, a few reminders: i've got a brand new free email series called drink some water, which includes four days of quick journaling prompts based on the suit of cups, and starts whenever you sign up. the two-hour emotional nourishment workshop that i hosted with my wonderful partner jeanna kadlec, fill your cup, is now available as a recording that you can watch and enjoy on your own schedule. and my new emotional journaling intensive, queens of spirit, begins on september 2nd and is all about getting to know your own emotions in a personal, authentic, and compassionate way. i'll be doing some reels on the queens over the next week over on instagram to give you a little taste of what we'll be doing!

as always, this is the part of the month where i send you a bunch of questions, ideas, offerings, and prompts to help you connect with this card on your own.

tarot gets to be yours: and that means that while i've been writing about the eight of wands this month, you may have been coming to some different conclusions. not only is that fine, it's actually great! you get to build your own relationship with the tarot, as i've found myself saying over and over again not only in my writing, but also on my podcast.

whatever these cards may inspire, whatever visions come to mind or passions ignite your spirit, follow that fire. see what comes up, and what comes out. use these prompts for tarot journaling, exploration, character building, poetry, creative work, cooking, design, doodling, singing, dancing, or literally anything else you like. where will the eight of wands lead you? let's find out.

what does the eight of wands represent for you? how do you understand this combination of the element of fire and the number eight? how does this card feel when it comes up for you in readings?

when have you felt like something is burning within you, and you want to put every single shred of energy that you have into chasing that need? have you ever had the experience of momentum and passion taking over, letting yourself get lost in the pursuit of something? what facilitates that feeling? how much groundwork did you have to lay before you felt that you could safely lose yourself in the chase, the momentum, the joy of doing something with everything you have?

is this ever an energy that you intentionally channel? is this an energy that you ever intentionally avoid or push to the side? is this a sensation that feels comfortable for you, or does it make you nervous? what do you require in order to embrace this feeling with courage, rather than shy away from it? does that even feel possible?

what does this energy look like in another person? imagine someone fully embodying the eight of wands: how do they move? what do they say? how would you engage with that figure?

which part of a story might the eight of wands represent? think about your favorite book, television show, movie, musical, video game, comic, fairy tale, or other narrative form. how does the eight of wands manifest? is this an energy that you see in many of the media forms you consume, or does it feel unusual? how many stories that you love include eight of wands moments? how does the narrative reach this energy, and what happens afterwards?

what would it take for you to fall in love with this energy, if you aren't already? how could this card serve you, inspire you, motivate you, empower you right now?

and — is there any area of your life right now that you feel 100% ready to move in, that feels obstacle-free, that feels abundantly resourced? if so, how can you step into this energy and enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts?

if any of these prompts bring up big feelings, a reminder that my next journaling series, queens of spirit, is all about learning to sit with and understand our most intense emotions. we start september 2nd and would love to have you!
