the four of pentacles so often gets associated with fear of loss, hoarding what we have, keeping our resources locked up tight so that we won't lose them. and a lot of imagery for this card shows literal coins, symbols of wealth and prosperity, gathering dust or hidden away where no one else can find it.

to be clear — sometimes that's exactly what this card is all about. sometimes we're being fussy about what we have, fretting over a scarcity that doesn't exist, or withholding something we don't actually need when it could really help someone else. these are all deeply real and legitimate readings of this card.

but / and / also: the four of pentacles can be so much more.
